Manager / Lead Facilities & Construction

Join our team in the most beautiful office in the world! Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is looking to expand its staff to continue its dedication in preserving the beauty of Hawaii and the Honomu coast.

 

As working Manager and or Lead of the Facilities & Construction Department you will plan and oversee all maintenance & construction of our physical assets including  buildings, walkways, bridges and equipment, and tools. Responsibilities will include making certain that all buildings and physical assets are well maintained in a safe and quality condition as well as assisting in the future of our improvements and construction.

 

Manage a staff and budget to assure that preventative and reoccurring maintenance as well as larger projects are scheduled in a timely and effective manner ensuring quality completion as well as daily hands on responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

•Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations

•Resource scheduling and oversight to assure appropriate resource management are allocated

•Plan all maintenance & construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines are met

•Responsible for all sanitation and clean working environmcents

•Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies

•Tool inventory and maintenance

•Hire staff and contractors allocate responsibilities appropriately

•Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed

•Evaluate project progress and prepare detailed reports

•Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues

•Start and expand maintenance records for higher priority items

•Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project

•Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements

  

Qualifications
• Must have 2 yrs. Supervisor & Maintenance work experience

• Must have great people & communication skills

• Hands on experience in facilities and or construction techniques and tools such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanics, and welding

• Small equipment maintenance & engine repair a big plus

• Office & computer skills are helpful or willing to learn.

• Safe operating record, valid driver's license, clean abstract & credit history.

Gift Shop Receptionist/Garden Gate Greeter

 

Job Overview:

Looking for an energetic self-motivated person with customer service and retail experience. An organized self-starter who loves people, loves to educate, and who wants to grow the legacy of The Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden in Onomea Valley.

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

•Greet Guests while selling entrance tickets

•Assist customers with merchandise purchases and answer guest questions

•Operate the cash register

•Collect tickets at Garden Gates

•Opening, cleaning and closing Restroom procedures

•Communicate clearly and properly to Garden, Gift Shop, and Administration staff

•Be able to clean, stock, and price merchandise

•Be able to lift 50lbs or more

 

Qualifications:

Retail gift shop experience, customer focused, proper and clear communication, customer service experience, problem solver, good math skills, integrity, team player

Manager Retail Operations

Responsible for both tactical (day to day) and strategic activities of the garden gift shop, inventory management and the creation of the new guest services department

Lead, motivate and manage the retail operations team

Ensures every guest experience is a positive memorable one through excellent customer service, and positive attitude, and professional attitude

Ensure every employee within supply chain, the gift shop and guest services are trained to the latest SOP, SOPs are accessible to all employees and the SOPs are kept up to date at all times

Oversees the supply chain assisting in the selection of vendors and merchandise, purchasing, inventory management, COGs and sales

Manages the day to day operation and performance at the individual and direct management level Define necessary reporting metrics and reports

Responsible for hiring and managing personnel

Responsible for goal setting, accountability to goals and annual reviews of employees Accountable for departments expenses and annual budgeting

Working with executive management assists with input into and the execution of the strategic vision including strategic projects

Manages special projects within the scope of retail operations and guest operations


Gift Shop
  1. Ensure a friendly welcoming, can-do attitude at all times
  2. Manage processes through lead and direct reports

  3. Ensure all SOPs are followed and updated

  4. Ensure the staff is fully trained before interacting with customers or using the POS system
  5. Work with the lead on the monthly schedule
  6. Ensure the gift shop is always clean and tidy

Purchasing, Inventory Management, Online store, Flower business

  1. Define and manage processes through direct reports
  2. Ensure the look and feel of the inventory meets HTBG's standards
  3. Ensure the gift shop is always properly stocked
  4. Ensure inventory is accurate through cycle counts and physical inventories
  5. Assist in setting inventory levels that meet COGs targets
  6. Ensure inventory is priced correctly
  7. Manage through direct reports the online store, process all internet orders, including the flower business
  8. Improve margins and COGs year over year


Guest Services
  1. Assist executive management with the creation of the new guest services organization.
  2. This group will include any customer facing process that falls outside of the gift shop and supply chain, and is not limited to ticket gate, cart services, security services and tours.


Experience

5 to 10 years retail management experience Minimum 5 years management of people

Supply chain and inventory management experience Organized, articulate, cheerful, can do attitude

The ability to create the ultimate customer experience
